Fiorentina hail golden Pirlo

Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo has won the praise of Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella ahead of this weekend’s meeting.
“I would have given Pirlo the Golden Ball,” the former Roma and Catania tactician told Tuttosport. “It would have been a reward for an exceptional career.”
Viola technical director Eduardo Macia mirrored Montella’s view. “Pirlo deserved the Golden Ball,” he added. “He’s been playing at the highest levels for 15 years.”
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi was given the 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or prize ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo or Real Madrid and Barca’s Andres Iniesta.
Pirlo – who ranked seventh behind Xavi, Radamel Falcao and Iker Casillas – won the Scudetto last year, as well as helping Italy to the Final of Euro 2012.

Viviano: "In Turin without fear" before the Juventus game

A few days from Juventus-Fiorentina speaks Emiliano Viviano, who found the jersey holder just in time for the challenge greater. The goalkeeper infringes was interviewed by Mediaset and returned even on difficult days of January and the assumption of a farewell: "Throughout my career I have been lucky enough to play all the time and when I ended up on the bench I made my comments. Then I realized that the estimate of the coach was always the same, there have never been any problems between us, and I expect to have another chance. After all that I had to come to Florence seemed right to continue. At times I have heard some criticism too, someone said that I played with Fiorentina just because I was a fan purple, as if it were a favor, and this did not bother me.

The crisis of January? If we look at the performance I do not think we ever deserved to lose, it was right to continue with the same mentality and the same game and we were able to recover. The love of the curve? I am proud to represent the Fiorentina fans, I know that many would like to be in my place and sometimes they are a bit 'in trouble for this. Juve? Every game is a story in itself, we have demonstrated the first leg to be able to keep up with Juventus. They are very strong and we respect that, but we're going there to play it and try to get a result, in football anything can happen. Buffon better? Yes, absolutely, there are none like him. "

Baggio 'seller' would offload Jovetic

Former Fiorentina patron Ranieri Pontello thinks that the club should learn from the Roberto Baggio sale and cash in on Stevan Jovetic.
The Pontello family were in charge of the Tuscan outfit in 1990 when they opted to sell Baggio to arch rivals Juventus for a world record £8m fee.
Now, almost 25 years later, Pontello has told Tuttosport that Juve-target Jovetic should also be sacrificed.
“There is a similarity between the two situations,” he stated. “We are talking about great players and two important clubs such as Fiorentina and Juventus.
“However, between Baggio and Jovetic, there is a difference. The Baggio of that time was superior to the present Jovetic.
“But I would be in favour of a sale if a notable offer is put on the table. After all, the Della Valle family are looking for balance between results and their accounts.
“With the money they can get from Jovetic, the Viola could move really well on the market. The club have shown recently that they are excellent at investing.”
Baggio’s sale to the Turin giants led to protests in the streets of Florence.
“There would be no revolt for Jovetic,” he added. “Times have changed. There are few flag-bearers in the game now.”
Juventus and Fiorentina will face each other in Serie A this weekend.

Viola: Jovetic 'not for sale'

Stevan Jovetic will not be leaving Fiorentina, according to chairman Mario Cognigni.
Juventus have been strongly linked with a move for the Montenegro international, and the Italian media reported that the Florence club rejected an offer of €13million (£11.2m) plus Alessandro Matri and Michele Pazienza.
Cognigni has now insisted that 23-year-old Jovetic, who has nine goals in 18 Serie A matches this season, is not for sale at any price.
"It's not possible that there will be any negotiations with Juventus for Stevan," Cognigni told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"In fact, it's not possible to deal with them or anyone else: Jovetic is not for sale.
"He is happy at Fiorentina and has a contract with us for another three years."

Juventus and Fiorentina fighting for Rossi signature

The Italy international has been connected with a return to Serie A, with La Viola willing to pay €4.5 million for a permanent deal, while the Old Lady are interested in a loan

It is believed the reigning Serie A champions are interested in striking a 12-month loan deal for the player, running from January this year to January 2014, while Viola hope to seal a permanent €4.5 million transfer.

The news comes after Athletic Bilbao confirmed the Bianconeri have opened talks with Fernando Llorente over a summer transfer, but it is clear they still wish to bolster their offensive options in the winter window.

Rossi was linked with some of Europe's biggest clubs last season prior to injuring the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in April.

His misery was compounded when El Submarino were relegated to the Segunda Division, but that has not stopped the two clubs in his homeland from registering their interest.

The 25-year-old began his career as a youth prospect at Parma, before being snapped up by Manchester United in 2005; he then moved on to Spain two years later.

Spurs, Juventus and Fiorentina set an eye on Pablo Osvaldo

There have been some reports emerge that Tottenham Hotspur will struggle it out with Juventus and Fiorentina for Roma Striker Daniel Osvaldo, as they look to strengthen in this month’s window.
The forward, who is in his second season at Roma, has already hit nine league goals this term and is close to matching his tally of 11 from last year.
The Argentina-born striker, who has been capped six times by Italy, was on Spurs’ radar during the summer but ended up staying in the Italian capital.
Fiorentina have enjoyed a strong start to the season and want to add more firepower next month as they look to sustain their challenge for a Champions League place.
La Nazione claim the Florence side are seeking to raid their Serie A rivals for the 26-year-old, but Roma are reluctant to sell. (TalkSport)
With Spurs only having two decent strikers, they are in need of bringing somebody in and boss Andre Villas-Boas has targeted a top player, but the battle he may have on his hands might mean that he does not get his man.

Fiorentina Manager impressed by Juventus

head coach has much admiration for top team , and thinks that the “anti-Juve” is non-existent, asserting it’s only up to the team themselves to lose points.
Between winning the Scudetto last season, and making their way through the Champions League while remaining on top of the Serie A table this season, there is no doubt that Juve have had a great 2012.
Montella talked to Gazzetta dello Sport about why he thinks the Bianconeri are so impressive, including the fact that they were able to continue in such good fashion without their coach Antonio Conte during his ban.
“The anti-Juve does not exist,” he said. “Only the Bianconeri can lose points for themselves.
“But if they keep going forward in the Champions League, they will spend a lot of mental energy trying to concentrate on both.
“Their strength however is that they’ve been able to hold it together without their coach for so long.
“And that is credit to Antonio Conte. He is a superb man-manager and tactician. The work done during the week is the most important, and that’s why they did not suffer too much [when Conte was suspended].
“And they’ve got Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal – two of the best in their position around.”
